Sestri Levante
Sestri Levante is the first city one encounters going towards La Spezia: its city centre is just a couple bus stops away from our hotel. Nicknamed “The City with two Seas”, Sestri is made of a beautiful peninsula connected to the mainland via an isthmus that separates Baia del Silenzio (Silence Bay) and Baia delle Favole (Fable Bay), both named by famous writer Hans Christian Andersen, to which a renowned literary contest is dedicated.
Passing through the “Caruggio” (the main pedestrian road) one can find beautiful boutiques, bars and restaurants, alongside great ice cream shops that will satisfy grown-ups as well as kids. At the end of the caruggio is Basilica di Santa Maria di Nazareth, and, on the right, you will find a small road leading to Chiesa di San Nicolò (S. Nicolò's Church), from which you'll be able to enjoy a breathtaking landscape including Baia del Silenzio, undoubtedly one of the most spectacular and evocative locations in our coast.
Descending and entering the Bay one can visit the small Aquarium, the former Annunziata convent, all the way towards the opposite side of the Cappuccini convent. In the opposite side of the city, Baia delle Favole offers wide beaches with bathhouses, while a brand new and wide seaside path leads you from Sant'Anna all the way to the small port.
